Our Mission
At Downs’ Garage, we believe EV owners deserve the freedom to choose how their vehicles are cared for. Factory warranties should never mark the end of your EV journey — they should be the beginning of a longer, more sustainable road. By providing independent repair services alongside a safe, well‑equipped DIY space, we empower drivers to keep their EVs running reliably, affordably, and confidently.
Our mission is to chip away at the outdated belief that people can’t work on their own vehicles in today’s world. With the right tools, space, and guidance, every EV owner can take part in maintaining their car. The longer EVs stay on the road, the greater their positive impact on our environment and collective future. Downs’ Garage is more than a repair shop — it’s a community built on knowledge‑sharing, collaboration, and the drive toward a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
About
My name is Cody Downs
I’m Cody Downs, founder of Downs’ Garage here in Seattle. Before specializing in EVs, I spent years restoring classics — everything from air‑cooled VWs and MGs to old‑school Mopars — and building, tuning, and obsessing over Japanese sport compacts. I’m an unapologetic Honda nerd at heart, and that hands‑on history shapes the way I approach every repair today. After working as a Toyota Master Technician and helping build Rivian’s Field Service program from the ground up, I am building this shop to give EV owners something the industry has been missing, expert repair, honest guidance, and a place to actually learn about the cars they rely on. Downs’ Garage is more than a repair shop; it’s a community built around transparency, education, and keeping drivers confidently on the road.

At Downs’ Garage, membership fees aren’t just about access—they’re the foundation of our build‑out. Every dollar goes directly toward creating a fully equipped EV repair and education hub right here in Seattle. This is a community garage, funded by the community, for the community. By joining, you’re helping us install lifts, tools, and chargers, while also supporting workshops and resources that empower EV owners. Together, we’re building more than a shop—we’re building a shared space where knowledge, service, and innovation thrive.
